The Plot: A man bitten by a werewolf spends a couple of days with his sister

  Bad Moon is the type of movie that is not afraid to start with a sex scene that ends in a werewolf attack before the credits roll. Most movies would have at least waited until the right mood had been set up, perhaps about 20 minutes in. But that is why most movies aren't Bad Moon.

   Michael Pare (Eddie and the Cruisers) stars as the poor soul who lost his girlfriend in a mid-coitus werewolf attack. He too was bitten so now he is forced to live in a van down by the river. Well, an airstream by the river actually. Which, when yo think about it, is just one step above living in a van down by the river.  He is convinced to get away after he mutilates many hikers and the authorities have set a curfew and he feels the heat coming down, so he visits his sister, Mariel Hemingway (Super Man IV : The Quest for Peace) who lives alone with her young son and pet German Shepherd, Thor.

  Hemingway, who at first refuses to believe of a connection between the grisly murders that happened where her brother used to live and are now happening where is is now living, has poor old Thor taken away as he is the prime suspect in the grisly murder in town. It soon becomes evident that her brother is a werewolf responsible for the murders

  Make no mistake, Pare is not the varsity jacket wearing, surfing on the top of a van werewolf. He is a werewolf standing about 7 feet tall who has a penchant for throwing punches instead of you know, biting people with your powerful jaws. Inevitably and predictably, there is a showdown between Mariel, Thor and werewolf Pare, which results in a grandfather clock dropped on him (in a move so awesome, i must know think a grandfather clock being dropped on a werewolf scene should be inserted in every movie), 6 bullets wounds and finally death by Thor; a beast smart enough to use his powerful jaws. 
Gimmie your lunch money, kid!



  Overall, Bad Moon is predictable, features the absolute worst CGI werewolf transformation scene in the history of all werewolf movies but also features a great performance by Pare and also Thor, the dog. I give it 6 tumbling grandfather clocks

Candyman (1992) The Plot: A graduate student working on her thesis on folklore legends finds more than what she bargained for!   Despite the title, there is no candy in Candyman. Instead we get bees. Many, many bees. The worst of which are the bees filling a toilet. Toilet bees should not be a thing. It's probably the most disturbing thing in this movie. We should thank our lucky stars that we don;t have to check our toilets for bees on a regular basis.  My God! Toilet bees!   Candyman tells the story of a boogyman with a hook for a hand that appears when his name is said 5 times while gazing into a mirror. Go ahead, try doing that. I dare you. BWAHAHAHA! Virginia Madsen  doesn't believe this so she does that...and hilarity ensues! OK maybe not, death ensues. But not before she gets kissed by Candyman who has a mouthful of bees! Teenagers From Outer Space

  Teenagers From Outer Space (1959) The Plot: A teenager from outer space arrives on Earth as a precursor to invasion but has a change of heart once he meets some Earthlings.    When a teenager from outer space arrives in your neighborhood and introduces himself to you, I bet you would think he would have a weird name, Zortar or Trxtgrwkjj; anything but Derek. But here in this movie, the 2 aliens that arrive are named Derek and Thor, which is not a vaudeville act that toured exclusively in Minnesota in the late 1930s but rather 2 teenagers from space (although they look vaguely early 30ish, perhaps there is something in the water on Derek and Thor's home planet that ages them prematurely). Thor uses his fantastic focused disintegrating ray to kill a dog. This is a line that Derek will not cross.
